Chicka Chicka Boom Boom…look what Kindergarten is learning at SBA!

Last week in Kindergarten students focused on learning all the letters of the alphabet.  They listened to the story “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault.  The children are reviewing the alphabet both upper case and lower case letters.  While reading this story students place letter magnets on a palm tree and name an object that begins with that letter.  The students made their own palm trees.  They counted the letters in their name and put their name on a palm tree, as well as have their funny faces on a palm tree with their first initial of their name!
As a literacy extension, we also cracked open a few real coconuts to taste the milk and meat from inside, and graphed whether we liked it or not.  Some were amazed that the milk was not white!
