Feast of Saint Jerome

On Monday, September 30, students prayed for Saint Raphael Parish pastor Father Jerome Day, O.S.B. on the Feast Day of Saint Jerome.

Father Jerome is prayer partners with Mrs. Johnston’s Third Grade class. Leading up to the Feast Day, the Third Grade learned about Saint Jerome through readings and activities. Students learned, for example, that Saint Jerome translated the Bible and that he is regarded as a patron saint of students, school children, and librarians. The Third Grade sent Father Jerome a card and were thrilled that he visited them during their Physical Education class to say hello to them.

At Saint Benedict Academy, each grade is “prayer partners” with one of the priests in the Diocese of Manchester. The students write letters to the priests, and the priests write letters back to the classes and often come for special visits to campus to speak with and pray with the students. The priests also take turns in celebrating our weekly Mass.

Families, friends, and members of the community are welcome to join the Saint Benedict Academy students and faculty for weekly Mass on Tuesdays at noon at Saint Raphael Parish.
