Fourth and Fifth Graders Contemplate the Religious Life

sr1Sr. Louise Auclair, C.S.C., prayer partner to the fourth grade class, joined 4th and 5th graders after Mass on Tuesday and shared her personal story of deciding on her vocation as a Religious.

Students listened as Sr. Louise shared her own experience, when she first felt the call to Religious Life, and the process she went through in making the decision.  She also shared the many things she has been able to do in her life because of the choice she made when she was just 17 years old.

Sr. Louise talked about how she felt the calling first when she was in 6th grade, but how she went on to have a “normal” teenage life.  She even shared her “prom” picture with students. But then she took the steps necessary when she finished high school to become a Sister of Holy Cross.  She also shared pictures from each step in the process, and even had the cross and heart that she wore in some of those pictures from the 1950’s and 1960’s.

She challenged students- young women and men – to take the time to ask God what He would like them to do in their life and to be open to His answer, whatever it may be.  Sometimes they may be led in one direction, and who knows- it may even be toward the Religious Life.
