Story by Mrs. Susan LaPalme, Sixth Grade Teacher
Recently, the sixth grade class had the pleasure of special visitors from Iraq. This was one of several scheduled visits throughout the year in partnership with the International Student Office at Southern New Hampshire University (for information about our Global Village partnership, please click here).
Since the SNHU guests had taught about their holiday traditions during their previous visit, our Sixth Graders were well prepared with a slide show and discussion prepared by the class presenting our own Lenten and Easter traditions that we engage in as part of our faith. We even included an Easter Egg Hunt at the end with candy!
As part of their presentation and discussion, the SNHU student speakers focused on traditional games and activities from Iraq. Before their departure, they had the Sixth Graders completely engaged and taking part in one of their games including a missing ring hidden in your hand.
This visit, just like prior, was a wonderful opportunity for the students to appreciate and experience a part of another culture.
