Blessed are you, loving Father, for all your gifts to me and those close to me. Blessed are you for giving me family and friends to be with me in times of joy and sorrow, to help me in days of need, and to rejoice with me in moments of celebration. Father, I praise you for your son Jesus, who knew the happiness of family and friends, and the love of your Holy Spirit. Blessed are you for ever and ever. Amen.
The Saint Benedict Academy school community offered this prayer every morning during the month of November in strengthening our hearts and minds to be thankful for the many gifts God has given us. We invite you to offer this prayer on Thanksgiving.
In the past weeks, Saint Benedict Academy classrooms have been busy learning about Thanksgiving and engaging in activities about the holiday and the meaning behind it:
Pre-K students created “dinner wear” with their sixth grade prayer partners – the turkey drumstick headbands brought a smile to many faces! Kindergarten students welcomed their family members for a special performance and breakfast in the cafeteria and completed a craft with their fifth grade prayer partners. First grade students learned about Native American Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, while the second grade classes focused on the history of the the Pilgrims, the Mayflower, and the First Thanksgiving. Third grade students created a bulletin board focusing on the “Be-Attitude of Gratitude” in which they reflected on the gifts of family, friends, and teachers. The fourth grade students revisited the history of Plimouth Plantation, which they visited last year in the third grade, and discussed the importance of Prayers of Thanksgiving.
The students, faculty, and administration of Saint Benedict Academy wish you and your family a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
