“Listen with the ear of your heart” – Saint Benedict

Saint Benedict Academy Families,

I hope that you are enjoying the start of your summer vacation. I had quite an adventure in Europe visiting eight countries in three weeks.

I was amazed at the rich history of the many places I visited and was reminded of the incredible history of our school. Our school first opened its doors in 1889. This fall, we will continue in that legacy by welcoming YOU for our 125th year! We are rooted in tradition and are also a vibrant, faithful school of the 21st Century with our technology , curriculum, and after-school programs.

Please continue to share the word about SBA with friends, neighbors, and co-workers. We would love for more families to join our school family! We still have openings for new students, especially in our Kindergarten class. Families can call the school at 603-669-3932 to set up a personal tour. Remember, for every new family registration referred by you, you earn $100 tuition break.

Someone will be available in the office on most days from 8 to 2. We will also check email and phone.

The School Calendar and Supply List 2013-2014 can be found on the website: stbenedictacademy.org. Now is a great time to shop the sales for classroom supplies.

On Monday, August 12, students and families are invited to drop in to our “Summer Supplies Social” at any time from 11-1 to drop off individual student supplies and classroom supplies. Please label all items and place them in a sturdy shopping bag. Lemonade and cookies will be available at the front office.

Remember that SBA Summer Camp is from August 5-9. Parents, please be sure to have the remainder of the fee with you at drop-off on Monday morning. You will need to sign your child(ren) in and provide a phone number at which you can be reached that day. If you still would like to register your child(ren) you must phone the office by August 2.

I hope that students have been working on their summer writing assignment. A letter detailing the assignment was sent home with the students in June. Remember, a completed journal will earn students a ticket to an ice cream party at school this fall. Students, I look forward to reading all about your summer fun!

Parents, if you are looking for additional ways to strengthen your child(ren)’s readiness for school this fall, consider the resource “Bedtime Math” at bedtimemath.org. This free resource is geared to help make nightly math as common and beloved as the nightly bedtime story.

Please know that you and your families are in our prayers this summer, and please pray for our school community.
