Winter Warm-Up!

Second grade students at Saint Benedict Academy enjoyed a “Winter Warm-Up” Celebration on Thursday, December 19. The day of surprises came courtesy of a prize package that the Hunter family bid on at our 2013 Spring Auction.

The second grade was treated to an extended recess this morning where they spent time building their snow fort and annexing an adjacent fort through a peace treaty. After lunch and Spanish class, Mr. McLaughlin and the students’ sixth grade prayer partners joined the students to make a “Paintbrush Elf” ornament. Mrs. Gravel delivered delicious hot cocoa and Christmas cookies. Mr. McLaughlin then read the students the Italian Christmas story of “La Befana” as adapted by Father Paul V. Canonici, the former superintendent of Catholic schools in Mississippi.

Later on this school year, other prize packages from the 2013 spring auction will be redeemed. Those experiences include: Spring Party; Red Sox Opening Day BBQ; and Principal for a Day. We will have similar “SBA Specials” up for the bidding at our “Once Upon a Time” Spring Auction on Saturday, April 5, 2014!
